New Contracts Won in January 2012

Sarclad are pleased to announce the following new contracts that we have recently won

A new 72 electrode Rolltex EDT machine at Qian’an Siwen Ke De in China. This is our first Rolltex machine with this customer taking our total in China to 24 systems.

A new 36 electrode Rolltex EDT machine at Bhushan Steel in India. This is our first machine with this customer and our seventh in total in India.

A new Strand Condition Monitor (SCM) at Erdimir in Turkey, continuing our long standing relationship with this customer, bringing the total systems at this site to four and in Turkey to six.

Bon Voyage Mike.

For the past 30 years, Sarclad has grown and developed from a fledgling company to a World leader in the steel industry. Throughout this period, Mike Sorby as the Managing Director has guided the company through both buoyant and challenging times. As many of you may be aware 12 months ago, Mike announced his intention to retire in August 2011 and that time is now upon us.

I am sure you will all join with us to wish both Mike and Barbara a very happy retirement together and thank Mike for his friendship, loyal service and dedication to the company, its employees, representatives and customers.

As one era draws to an end, a new era commences under the leadership of Keith Shillam, who from August will continue the role and responsibility of Sarclad Managing Director. Keith, a proven and experienced director in the steel industry, is eager to continue the growth and development of Sarclad and looks forward to the exciting challenges that lay ahead.

In-Chain SCM Contracts.

Sarclad have successfully won the contract to supply In-Chain SCM systems to Usiminas, Ipatinga, Brazil. The systems are a landmark for Sarclad, with the entire operation now being fully automated, and complemented with wireless data transmission and contactless battery charging. This contract follows on from the successful installation of two In-Chain systems at ArcelorMittal, Indiana Harbor, USA, which were commissioned in early January 2011.

Launch of New In-Chain SCM

Sarclad is proud to announce the launch of its new In-Chain Strand Condition Monitor, a precision online measurement system for continuous casting machine rolls. The In-Chain SCM is permanently installed into existing dummy bar chains and measurements are performed automatically at the start of every cast, to provide quality critical roll data.
