Steve Shillito, SCM Project Manager, has reported yet another successful year for the SCM product group in new machines as well as upgraded SCM’s. Steve has also highlighted another positive start to the New Year with a number of SCM units to be installed during this year carried over from the previous year, as well as new SCM orders scheduled for installation during 2015.
“Despite a difficult market place with little activity with new Steel Plant Projects, the Sarclad Strand Condition Monitor continues to sell well to established Steel makers and Sarclad’s extensive reference list continues to grow.”
“While in some regions reluctance to spend on new capital equipment still exists we have seen a large number of orders to upgrade our older existing SCMs.”
Over the past 12 months, new SCMs were successfully installed at the following steel plants:
- OutoKumpo (Tornio Finland) – 1st unit on site
- Siderar (San Nicholas works Argentina) – 2nd unit on site
- Severstal (Dearborn USA) – 2nd unit on site
- Aperam (Timoteo – Brazil) – Replacing the existing unit installed in 1994.
- Gallatin Steel (USA) – Sarclad’s first SCM to measure SMS Vertical Thin Slab caster at 63mm
- North American Stainless (USA) – 1st unit on site
- TATA Port Talbot (UK)- 1 new SCM for Caster 3
- Bhushan Steel (India) – 2 x new SCMs to add to the 2 units already on site
- Nucor Hertford (USA) – 3rd unit on site
- Baosteel (Zhanjiang – China) – 1st unit on site
Existing SCMs were upgraded at the following Steel Plants:
- TATA Port Talbot (UK) – Upgraded CC3 SCM supplied in 2004
- AK Butler (USA) – Upgrade to SCM supplied in 1989
- Arcelor Mittal Burns Harbor (USA) – Upgrade to SCM previously supplied to Bethlehem Steel Sparrows Point in 1996
- WISCO (China) – Upgrade to SCM supplied in 2010
- SSAB IOWA (USA) – Upgrade to SCM supplied in
SCM’s Supplied in 2014 and to be installed in 2015 are:
- Hadeed (Saudi Arabia) – 2nd unit on site
- Usiminas (Ipatinga Brazil) – 1st SCM unit on site compliments to existing In-Chain system.
- TKS Bruckhausen (Germany) – 2 x In-Chain systems
- HKM (Duisburg – Germany) Upgrade to SCM supplied in 2000
- HKM (Duisburg – Germany) Upgrade to SCM supplied in 2004
- Arcelor Mittal Gent (Belgium) – Upgrade to SCM supplied in 2007
- Erdemir (Turkey) – Upgrade to SCM supplied in 2001
- Erdemir (Turkey) – Upgrade to SCM supplied in 2001
New SCM orders have been received for the following plants for 2015 installation:
- TATA Scunthorpe (UK) – 3rd To be installed in Jan/Feb
- Tata Scunthorpe (UK) – 2 x In-Chain systems to compliment the SCM. To be installed in March
- Jinan (China ) – 1st unit on site
- Hebei Puyang (China) – 1st unit on site
- Shougang Jingtang (China) – 2 x new SCMs
